Biochemistry Testing Instructions

For a Lipid Profile and Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS), a 10 to 12 hour overnight fast is strictly required. You may drink plain water, but avoid tea, coffee, milk, or breakfast before sample collection.

No, HbA1c (Glycated Hemoglobin) tests can be taken at any time of the day without fasting, as it reflects the average blood glucose of the past 90 days.

For thyroid medication (e.g. Thyronorm/Eltroxin), we usually recommend having the blood drawn before taking your morning dose. For blood pressure medications, you can generally take them with water, but please consult our phlebotomist upon arrival.
